Steps to Hearing Voice of God

By Chaplain Eric Kieselbach (Shepherd Care) and Pastor Jerry Baker (U-Turn Ministries)

The bible is God's Love letter to us, and a history book chronicling God's relationship with man. It starts at creation and continues through the days of Jesus's ministry on earth, and His death, resurrection, and ascension into heaven. After Jesus's return to heaven, the bible tells how His disciples received the Holy Spirit to strengthen them as they spread both God's Truth and Jesus's story to many lands at the risk of their very lives without the aid of mass transit, internet, and printing press!

While some picture the bible as dry, boring reading, it is actually full of accounts of strong friendships, treachery, war, and redemption. In the bible, we see years and years when man turned from God, yet God did not turn from man. We see God allowing man (us) the freedom of poor choices and being there to pick him (us) up and yes, even rejoicing when the headstrong child (yes, us again) came home to the Father. (For evidence of that particular reunion, check out Luke 15: 11-32.)

Reading the bible can draw you closer to your Heavenly Father, Jesus His Son, and the Holy Spirit. Regular, prayerful reading will fill you with wisdom and give you strength for daily life. The bible is The Way to know God more deeply and follow Him more closely.

Here on this page we have the privilege of bringing you bible studies co-authored by Pastor Jerry Baker of U-Turn Ministries and Chaplain Eric Kieselbach of Shepherd Care.

Pastor Jerry is a man who loves God and sharing Him with others, but especially with youth, and even more specifically with incarcerated youth. It was Pastor Jerry whom God used to reopen the door to ministry at NWRJDC, and through Jerry the door was opened to Aaron and then Lynn and Vicki. While he does not seek the praise of man, we wish to thank God publicly for how He used him in the lives of the kids at NRJDC as well as in our own.

Chaplain Eric Kieselbach is a pastor and certified chaplain who is trained in Critical Incident and Stress Management. Eric is a trained professional in caring for people, and he supplies resources and information to encourage churches and employees, and also provides confidential community counseling. We do not know Chaplain K personally, but have been blessed by the monthly care topic emails he sends.

Whether you choose to become a serious bible student or not, we pray you will take time to add bible reading to your daily lives. When you decide to dive into serious study, these lessons are here for your use. Should you work through them, you can submit them to the authors Here and receive a certificate of completion.
